Kaplan attended the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he received his doctorate of medicine. During this time, Dr. Kaplan completed an internship at USC Medical Center in Los Angeles and, after graduating, accepted a Residency in Dermatology, also at USC Medical Center. He began his medical career as a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, serving as an Assistant in Dermatology at the Walter Reade Army Medical Center.
Dr. Kaplan is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Dermatopathology. For over 30 years, he has maintained his private practice as well as holding a clinical appointment at the Tarzana Regional Medical Center and a faculty appointment as USC School of Medicine as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine. Dr. Kaplan also maintains memberships in the following professional societies:
